The Em Effect was built specifically for dancers.
All sessions are led by Emily and carefully selected instructors who are trained in Classical Pilates and committed to ongoing education. Qualifications matter. A strong foundation in the method ensures training is intentional, progressive, and deeply effective — not random or trend-based.
But we don’t stop at Pilates.
Our instructors are dancers who understand dance science — the technique, the pressure, the standards, and the physical demands that often create misalignment, muscular imbalances, and overuse injuries. That lived experience shapes how we cue, correct, and progress each dancer to both preserve longevity and elevate performance.
Most importantly, we bridge the gap between Pilates and dance.
Dancers don’t just get stronger, but they learn how to apply what they build directly to turnout, extensions, jumps, control, and alignment. We make that connection clear through both discussion and immediate, practical application.
We’re called The Em Effect because we produce results.
The combination of Classical Pilates, dance expertise, and practical application creates a noticeable shift: transformation in strength, technique, confidence, and clear progress toward each dancer’s individual goals.

We recommend training in Pilates at least once per week. For optimal results, many dancers train 2–3 times per week.
Consistency is key — regular sessions support strength, technique, and long-term progress.

Something comfortable and form-fitting so we can easily see your alignment— think leggings and a fitted top. Most dancewear works great. No shoes are needed.
We recommend avoiding dark clothing, especially if your mat is black, as it can make it harder to see alignment clearly on camera.
-
A mat, Wi-Fi, and a computer with a camera, sound, and speaker. Access to a pillow can also be helpful for support.
As you progress, if additional equipment is recommended, we’ll work together to make sure you have what you need.

You will receive an email 24 hours before your session with a link and password to the Zoom log-in.
Please be sure to have Zoom downloaded and up-to-date prior to your session and log in at least 5 minutes prior to avoid any technical difficulties.

A private session is the most effective way to receive individualized attention tailored to your goals, your body, and where you are that day. One-on-one, we focus on your current technical objectives as well as your bigger-picture dance goals, with ongoing discussion and practical application to support clear progress.
Duet and semi-private sessions still offer a high level of individualized attention while being more cost-effective, especially helpful alongside demanding dance training expenses. If you can find a partner of a similar age, level, and work ethic, this can be an excellent alternative to private sessions.
Many dancers choose to combine formats — for example, one private and one semi-private each week — to support steady, accelerated progress.
Please note: While dancers coordinate their own duet or semi-private partners, we reserve final discretion to confirm that the pairing is an appropriate fit for everyone.
